Our stay at Cielo Ranch Reserve was the best part of our trip! The house is beautiful, the kids loved the pool, the food at Rosita’s on site was delicious, and you are immersed in nature. Paul was very responsive to questions and he planned and booked all our activities based on our preferences. Casa Cielo Ranch Reserve set such a high standard for vacation accommodations that I fear we’ll never be able to replicate it. It provides everything we want in a travel experience—comfort, cleanliness, adventure, delicious food, expert planning, and, of course, natural beauty. Paul did a fantastic job planning and executing our itinerary, thoughtfully grouping activities in the most logical way and providing maps and information on the day of each event.

Many other reviewers have noted the excellence of Rosie’s cooking, but it truly cannot be overstated. Everything she served was incredible, and even my four picky children raved after every meal. Even something as simple as pancakes was next-level delicious coming from Rosie’s kitchen. I’m pretty sure my husband and I each gained five pounds because we couldn’t help but clean our plates every time.

Paul and Rosie are some of the most thoughtful hosts we’ve ever had. I celebrated my birthday while at Casa Cielo, and they made it extra special with decorations and cake. You can tell they’ve put a great deal of thought into making the space comfortable, especially for families. There were games and children’s books in the house, and so many thoughtful touches—from pool towels to binoculars—made the stay even more enjoyable. Even their dogs are delightful! My girls would have happily spent all day petting their sweet dog, Bernardo.

The house itself is beautiful, thoughtfully designed to showcase the area’s natural beauty. We only regret not booking a longer stay or setting aside more time to simply enjoy the property. The highlight of our entire Costa Rica trip was a guided hike along the property’s trails with Paul. He graciously shared so much fascinating information about the region’s flora and fauna—it was like hiking with a living encyclopedia, and we learned so much.
We were all genuinely sad to leave, but we took comfort in planning a return trip sometime in the next decade!

In Feb/26, our extended family, including 5 kids ages 7-14, stayed at Casa Cielo Jungle House for a week. We expected a lot, given the promotional pictures and  info, but this experience exceeded expectations in EVERY way. The setting, the beauty and comfort of the accommodations, the support from host Paul in planning excursions, were all outstanding. Rosie’s breakfasts ( included in our booking) were truly magnificent! An abundance of locally sourced fresh fruit, and a variety of options of different breakfast items kept us trying out new things every day. We had two of Rosie’s evening meals and were blown away by the choices, quality, quantity, flavours and freshness of the food. Highlights of the stay included the food, the pool, (which our kids almost lived in),and the paid ranch tour, where Paul talked about their vision for their reforestation and environmental projects, and explored the local landscape, its history, and its creatures. This was followed up with a tortilla making session, then processing sugar cane to produce  syrup for pre lunch drinks, and a lunch of tortillas, homemade cheese, and the best homemade soup, made from locally sourced ingredients, that we had ever tasted! If you are looking for an experience, and not just a prepackaged holiday, Paul and Rosie will not disappoint. This was, without a doubt, the experience of a lifetime for our family.

This is more than just a vacation rental, it is like visiting family. We had been to visit Paul and Rosie back in 2017 and always knew we were going back. This time we came as a group of 8 with extended family and it was perfection just as it had been years prior.
Paul was an excellent communicator prior to our visit helping set up everything we needed to make the most of our stay. The accommodations are just top notch and the service beyond all expectations. We tried to take advantage of all that the reserve has to offer but simply ran out of time, so I guess we will have to go back…again. This is one of those places that you want to scream from the top of the mountain (or volcano in this case) about because it is so wonderful, but don’t want your special find to become inaccessible because you can’t get a reservation. Truly it’s about the care and love that is put into the place and your stay that makes Cielo Ranch Reserve a not to miss when visiting Costa Rica

What a vacation!!!!  We travel frequently and can say this is truly one of our favorite vacations and places we have ever stayed.  The hospitality of Paul and his family, the cleanliness of the house, the AMAZING meals at Rosita's, and the organized planning that was done for us prior to arrival are all just the tip of what was an amazing stay.  The only thing I would have done differently would have been to extend our stay longer.  When you book your trip here, make sure to include a couple of days to lounge by the pool and enjoy the beautiful grounds.  You will not regret it!

We are already looking into our next vacation here and can't wait to get back to this fabulous oasis that gives you a true feeling of what Costa Rica is all about.

I can’t say enough good things about our stay at Casa Cielo. We are not repeat vacationers, but we are already planning our return. Quite possibly my favorite vacation. This home was absolutely STUNNING! We had 8 people with MORE than enough room for everyone.  The views are amazing, the wildlife was so awesome to see.  The grounds were so well kept and the house was immaculate.  Paul and Rosa were as welcoming as can be and went out of their way to make it feel like home for us.  Excursions were planned for us at discounted rates and they were there to serve us and help with anything we needed during our stay.  We will DEFINITELY be back as we made some new friends staying here. 🙂
